Oxbow Park Naturalization

What is Naturalization?

Naturalization means planting and designing green space using "Mother Nature's" principles. This involves introducing indigenous species in efforts to rehabilitate or restore environments. Areas within an urban are recreated or rehabilitated to resemble the natural environments that occurred in the region before things were built over it and European plant species took over and choked off indigenous ones.
