OPIRG-Carleton Animal Rights

Society dominates and exploits those who are weaker, without power or without a voice, and animals are easy prey.  Suffering endlessly in silence, hundreds of millions of animals are doomed to factory farms, fur farms and laboratory cages in the name of convenience, fashion and cosmetics.

OPIRG's Animal Rights Working Group rejects the purely anthropocentric ideals of today's society. We believe animals do not exist solely for selfish human exploitation and encourage ethically responsible choices whenever possible. We seek to open the eyes of the average consumer to the brutalities inflicted on animals every second of every day, to educate people and to provide cruelty-free alternatives whenever possible. Past activities include anti-fur demonstrations, petitions for harsher anti-animal cruelty laws, movie nights, hosting information tables on products not tested on animals, the evils of factory farming, and trips to local, delicious vegetarian/vegan restaurants.

Every year you can expect to find annual activities and new endeavours, so come join the fight for the animals! Help us create a more peaceful, ethically responsible society and put an end to animal exploitation.

Click "Read More" to find out how to cease the needless suffering of animals by becoming a member.
